GRID Assets
GRID boasts a wide variety of assets in a compact and accessible geographical area that make the district an attractive location in which to live and work.
From the University of Glasgow, a top world 100 higher education institution, to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, one of Europe’s largest acute hospitals and one of the University’s key partners, the district is well-resourced and endowed with knowledge and research infrastructure.
The University-led Living Laboratory for Precision Medicine is an internationally leading programme supported by UKRI Strength in Places Funding, focused on translating cutting-edge science and healthcare innovation in a clinical setting and bringing an estimated 450 new jobs to the Govan area. The emerging Health Innovation Hub nearby in Govan will provide a new space to support entrepreneurship and innovation in health, including in key areas such as MedTech and digital chemistry/drug development.
Meanwhile, GRID is also home to a thriving cultural cluster with a rich community of creative SMEs, major cultural institutions including SWG3, Scottish Events Campus, BBC Scotland, and Glasgow Science Centre, all close to Pacific Quay and Finnieston, named as one of the ‘coolest neighbourhoods’ in the UK to live, work, learn and play.
