Investment sites

GRID is a geographical area dotted with physical spaces tailor-made for innovation and enterprise. Some are developed, some are being realised and some have potential for great things.  From the historic campus of the University of Glasgow to the sites of former heavy industry on the Clyde, land and buildings are being repurposed and re-invented for new industries.

That process has begun in Govan around the health innovation cluster centred on the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. The nearby flagship Health Innovation Hub is sited where Alexander Stephen & Sons Ltd once built ships for clients around the world.

New partnerships are being forged across GRID and opportunities to create spaces and places for people to work and create will continue to evolve. The idea is that new cultural spaces will merge with areas of new industry and innovation.

Meanwhile, the University continues with its ambitious campus redevelopment at the site of the former Western Infirmary at Gilmorehill. Great spaces have been created at the Advanced Research Centre and the Adam Smith Business School. The next phases will see further innovation hubs added to the portfolio of laboratories and office suites that have been developed with partners.
