Quantum
Investing in cutting-edge tech
GRID and Scotland's innovation districts, backed by strong academic foundations and a collaborative ethos, are fertile ground for quantum technology research and commercialisation. The UK government's substantial investment in quantum as part of its industrial strategy underscores its potential to drive economic growth, attract global talent, and establish the UK as a world leader in this cutting-edge field.
The University of Glasgow’s world-leading research will be a key driver of activity around quantum technology within GRID. The Centre for Quantum Technology at the University brings together physicists, engineers and computer scientists to tackle cutting-edge scientific and technological research and innovation in the quantum realm.
Meanwhile, the Critical Technologies Accelerator – one of ther University's UKRI-funded Innovation Accelerator projects - is set to help Scotland become a world leader in quantum and photonics tech, working to identify companies in the West of Scotland where strategic funding enables growth in the quantum and photonics business cluster.
